Pompom: A Fun and Easy Craft

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

My daughters are my inspiration for this year’s Christmas wreath and decoration. I wanted to create something cozy and cute for two-year-old daughter's room, so I searched online for some ideas. That’s when I saw the pompom wreath, and I was hooked.

I have never made pompoms before, even though I have knitted and crocheted for my children. I learned that pompoms can be made with different materials, colours and patterns, and they can look very different depending on the combination.

This time, I decided to mix wool and tweed yarns (for some volume), metallic threads (for some sparkle), and tulle (for some fluffiness). I chose thin red and pink yarns, think white yarns, metallic green threads and rosey pink coloured tulle - this combination will make the pompoms more interesting and fun.

To make pompoms, you will need:

  • Various yarns

  • Threads

  • Tulle

  • Different sizes of pompom makers

  • Scissors

1. Wrap yarn / threads / around the ring until it is thick and full.

2. Cut the yarn along the edge of the ring

3. Tie a piece of yarn around the middle of the pom-pom and secure it with a knot.

4. Fluff and trim the pom-pom to make it round and even.

Joyeux Noël

Enjoy !
