This year is a very special one for our family. Our daughter is turning two and she will have a younger sister this Dec, therefore we are preparing to sleep in separate rooms from her. We want to make this transition as smooth and joyful as possible for her, so we decided to DIY the Christmas decor in her room. We think it will be a fun and creative way to bond with her and to celebrate this new chapter in our lives.
Christmas is my favourite time of the year, and ever since I got married and moved into our cozy little home, wreath making has always been one of my favourite project. I started off with collecting pinecones from my neighbourhood area (absolutely fun and rewarding experience) and turning them into festive ornaments. The next year, I tried a completely different style and made a Modern Boho Dried Flowers wreath. It was a nice contrast to the pinecones, both in terms of materials and aesthetics. Another year, I used beeswax to create a Christmas ornament for the tree!
This year, I want to surprise my daughter with a special wreath. I’m going to use yarn and tulle to make an Anthropologie inspired wreath for her. I bet it will be a one-of-a-kind and lovely style that she will adore.
In my previous post, I showed you how to make pom-poms using mixed materials. In this post, we will sew the pompoms on the wire wreath and add some miniature Christmas decorations to it in order to make our wreath more festive and colourful!
POMPOM MAKING
To start off, you will need some small ornaments, such as bells, stars, snowflakes, baubles, angels, reindeer, or gingerbread men or candy canes. You can find them at craft store or online. You will also need some hot glue or needle and thread to attach them to your wreath.
Next, arrange your ornaments on your wreath and see how they look before you glue them on. You can mix and match different shapes and colors, or follow a theme, such as red and white, or silver and gold. For me, I pick silver bells and white mini tress to keep it simple since the pompoms are already quite colourful and I do not want the accessories to overshadow them.
Once you are happy with the placement, glue or sew them to your wreath. You can also add some ribbons or bows to your wreath for extra flair. And that’s it! The last part of this project is very easy and enjoyable that you can do with your kids. It will only make your wreath more meaningful and memorable!
Joyeux Noël
I hope you have fun making your own pompom wreath with miniature Christmas decorations! Don’t forget to share your creations with me in the comments below or on social media. I would love to see them! Let’s get started!
Enjoy!
